The five treaties and conventions of international space law concern „the non-appropriation of space by a country, arms control, freedom of exploration, liability for damage caused by space objects, safety and rescue of spacecraft and astronauts, prevention of harmful interventions in space and environmental activities, notification and recording of space activities, scientific investigations and exploitation of natural resources in space and dispute resolution.“ The U.S. Military uses reference stations (CORS) to provide accurate coordinates to its armed forces. GPS/GNSS is used in the national space reference system to calculate high-precision GPS orbits. Aerial and terrestrial measurement information, gravitational data, and geoides or gravitational references are constantly collected critically for updates. In addition, Geoid Slope validation probes (GSVS) are performed to test the accuracy of the gravity geoid model for the next vertical date. The United States has an active survey program from the International Earth Rotation and Reference System Service (IERS) to improve geometry. Space legislation is the law that governs space activities and includes international and national agreements, rules and principles. The parameters of space law include space exploration, damage liability, weapons use, rescue efforts, environmental protection, information exchange, new technologies and ethics. Other areas such as administrative law, intellectual property law, gun control law, insurance law, environmental law, criminal law and commercial law are also incorporated into space law. The Indo-US Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement for Geo-Spatial Cooperation (BECA) concerns the exchange of geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) information on the use by governments for defence and other purposes. It defines the use and analysis of image and geographic data to describe geographically referenced activities on Earth. It identifies the geographic location and properties of natural or human characteristics on Earth and includes statistical data, collection data, mapping and measurement data to produce processed data such as mapping, diagrams, geodesic data and related information.
